Collect payment information in proposals

The ability to collect payment information right in the proposal will cut down the number of steps a client will have to do to get signed up. If we can add a stripe (or other payment method) integration right into the proposal builder, then the client can add his credit card details, sign the proposal and press submit. We're then not faced with the added work which it creates to get a proposal signed, then create an invoice and send that to the client and then wait for him to pay the invoice. Adding the payment into the proposal will shorten the process and get it all done in one step.

This is a critical feature.
We REALLY need the ability to collect payments (or at least payment info) on the proposal.
All the extra steps and delays in creating separate invoices or subscriptions slows down the process.

Biz Fuel Hello,
You can do this by modifying your order settings under the Administration tab -> Customize -> Sales -> Configure orders and sales process -> Salesperson submit actions.
The payment will not be embedded in the Proposal itself, but the section will show up on the order confirmation screen after your customer clicks "Approve" on the Proposal page.
Set both of these to true:
- Allow salespeople to send an order to customers for approval
- Orders sent for approval by salespeople can accept payment

Ryan MelForge hi, your suggestion does not address the issue/request.
When we create a proposal that includes a pricing table, an order is already created. So I get that we can then send that order for customer approval and payment which is super helpful.
But that is still creating an extra step. Ideally, the customer should be able to enter their credit card information directly into the proposal and hit approve and make payment in one seamless transaction.

Biz Fuel Thank you for clarifying.
I understand the need for a more streamlined process, and we have made recent improvements to address this. Currently, the system allows payment information to be entered on the order confirmation screen after the customer clicks "Approve" on the Proposal page. This eliminates the need for you to manually send the order as a separate step, create an invoice, or create the subscriptions. With recent updates, the first invoice and subscriptions are now created automatically, provided subscription billing is enabled.
While the lack of a payment option embedded directly in the proposal does introduce another step for the customer, it ensures that the order details are confirmed before payment is processed, reducing the risk of errors and enhancing accuracy. I acknowledge that integrating the payment step directly into the proposal document itself would offer greater convenience, and have taken your feedback into consideration.
Thank you again for your input.

Ryan MelForge,
thanks for the update. That certainly improves the process for collecting payment on approved proposals.
When was this implemented? As of now, the support site still says that an invoice needs to be created.
Is there any documentation on the support site that shows how this works on the customer side? Or will this existing help document be updated?

Biz Fuel No problem.
Automatically creating an Invoice from a paid Order was implemented this quarter, but it's possible there were cases where an Order did not always have payment attached (i.e., when created through the proposal flow).
We should definitely adjust the support article(s), thank you.

I'm asking specifically about this: "Currently, the system allows payment information to be entered on the order confirmation screen after the customer clicks "Approve" on the Proposal page."
You're saying this is in effect now, correct?
R
Ryan MelForge
Biz Fuel Yes, that functionality is in effect as long as subscription billing is enabled and the Sales settings are configured correctly.

Biz Fuel I'm a little late on this, but the support article has been updated now. Did you happen to try this? I would love to hear any feedback :)
